Extended Due Date for Partnership, LLC and Trust Returns has changed to September 15 from October 15.
Starting this year, the IRS has SHORTENED the extended due date for partnership, LLC and trust tax returns from October 15 to September 15.
The shortened due date will help individual taxpayers whose returns are extended to October 15 by ensuring the availability of their K-1 forms in time.
However, the shortened due date also means that our partnership, LLC and trust clients must file their tax returns and, consequently, provide their tax information earlier than in prior years. In addition, the extended due date for corporations remains September 15, so our September 15 workload has been correspondingly increased.
Needless to say we will make every effort to make this transition as smooth as possible for all of our clients. However, because of the increased volume of returns that we now must complete by September 15 we cannot guarantee that these tax filings will be prepared by this new earlier due date if we do not receive this information by September 1. Failure to file timely can result in significant penalties. We ask for your cooperation in helping us gather your information well before the new earlier September 15 due date to ensure we have adequate time to prepare your returns, and you have adequate time to review them before filing.
