Is it really realistic for a brand new professional to know if he or she has a dedicated career interest in audit versus tax? We think not, especially since what most recent graduates know about accounting, audit and tax has been learned in a classroom setting. It’s not enough.
Your first two years will be a combination of audit and tax assignments providing you with a balanced experience so you can gravitate more towards a function that you are truly interested in. It’s about your choice and giving you the type of experiences that will help incentivize and develop you into a well-rounded and high performing professional.
Once you decide on a function, you will probably select a niche group to practice and specialize in. It’s said that those who perform well love what they’re doing—we believe this too. When you have a choice, it increases the chances of finding what you really want to do and then doing it well.
